The Faculty of Indian Music, an important wing of the Academy imparts training mainly in classical singing besides Tabla,
Sitar and Harmonium.
The programme at all the levels envisages training in both vocal and instrumental music. The
speciality of the Faculty is that an attempt has been made to revive the
"Guru-Shishya" tradition prevailing in ancient India. The Faculty of Indian Music has started music
centres even in the villages to impart education in music both vocal and instrumental at an elementary level. This is being done to extend the benefit to all those who had no such opportunities in the past. |
